What is Human Resource Management?

In any type of organization, human resource is the priority asset. Therefore, human resource management (HRM) take most valuable part in each company. HRM means process of recruiting, selecting, inducting, training & development, assessing employee performance, rewarding & encouraging. Basically, maintaining thorough employee employer relationship to ensure job safety, welfare and job retention.





Human Resource Management Definitions

According to various authors there are many HRM definitions. Below are few of them.

Edwin Flippo - “planning, organizing, directing, controlling of procurement, development, compensation, integration, maintenance and separation of human resources to the end that indivi dual, organizational and social objectives are achieved”

Pigors and Myers – “It is basically a method of developing potentialities of employees so that they feel maximum satisfaction of their work and give their best efforts to the organization”.


Byars and Rue – “Human resource management encompasses those activities designed to provide for and coordinate the human resources of an organization Human resource functions refer to those tasks and duties performed in organizations to provide for and coordinate human resources”.


Ivancevich and Glueck – “Human resource management is the function performed in organizations’ that facilitate the most effective use of people (employees) to achieve organizational and individual goals”.

· Training & Development – Proving training & development brings attraction towards their jobs leads to effectiveness or high performance.

·  Employee satisfaction – Employee welfare rewarding leads employee satisfaction as well as employee retention.

·  Recruitment & onboarding – Systematic and see-through recruitment process is the key part of HRM of an organization.

· Hiring process – good hiring decision will lead company success with suitable candidates for correct positions.

· Maintaining complianceHR workers need to ensure all employment related activities are obeyed with employee relationship law of country

    1. There are lots of advantages to employees through HRM. Basically employee welfare, rewarding, appraiser, training are some of them. Main requirement and objective of HRM system is to ensure employee job satisfaction by fairly providing what they want.

    1. In the next few years, major battle will be retaining talented and well-performing candidates. Moreover, it is going to become even worse to recognize and reward the real performers as the market competitiveness is growing and that needs more collaborated efforts to establish loyalty among employees. HR professional will focus on the entire worker relationship with the company, from benefits to training to career .
